Green Day

Manchester MEN arena
Green Day
Foxboro Hotubs
Prima Donna
Expectations exceeded! The gig was amazing. The support band, Prima Donna, weren’t really my thing but they were entertaining and put on a good show. Straight after the Foxboro Hottubs took to the stage to play a coule of songs, that too was awesome.
Then Green Day came on. A bit of me died when I saw Billy Joe was blond again but they were so energetic. I was a bit surprised at the order, yeah they opened with 21st Century Breakdown which was expected but other than that the order was totally random.
At one point they got a guy and a girl on stage, I was so surprised when he started to talk to the girl. I think everyone was.
Billie: So what’s your name?
Sid: Sid
Billie: Sid! That’s a punk name, where are you from?
Sid: San Francisco!
Billie: What are you doing here then?
Sid: I dunno, I came to see you guys.
She was absolutely adorable. Not only that but travelling all the way from the states to the UK at that age? Dedication. Honestly I couldn’t understand how anyone could boo her when they found out where she was from. But straight after that they got even more people on stage.
Billie: So who here can play drums?
Naturally evenone started cheering even when almost no one could. But he picked one girl in the crowd, asked her how long she’d been playing. 6 years. They got her on stage, Tre told her what to do and she was awesome. They did the same with some guy on Mike’s bass and another girl on Billie’s guitar. Gotta say, if they knew each other outside of the arena they’d make an amazing band. Then the rest of the show went on as normal. At one point they all left the stage and came back on dressed up. Mike was a cat. Tre was wearing a bra and some huge hat and white framed glasses. I can’t remember what Billie was but I’m sure I have pictures.
I think they were on stage for about 2 and a half hours, and they didn’t stop the show at any point. By the time they’d finished it felt like it should only be half way through but at the same time, the air was dripping in people’s sweat.
